Getting to Ferragudo and the Chickenhouse Algarve

The Chickenhouse is located in Ferragudo on the southern coast of Portugal. The village is easy to reach and part of the established infrastructure of the Algarve. Travelling to Ferragudo is generally straightforward and follows common routes.

Arriving by plane

The nearest airport is Faro Airport, the main arrival point for the Algarve, served regularly from many European cities.

From there, the onward journey to Ferragudo usually takes place by rental car, taxi or transfer service. The route is well developed and easy to follow. Travel time is approximately 50 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day.

Alternatively, arrival via Lisbon is possible. From there, the Algarve can be reached by rental car, long-distance bus or train connections. This option takes more time but may suit guests combining their stay with Lisbon.

Arriving by car

Within the Algarve, Ferragudo is well connected to the regional road network. The approach follows clear main roads and, in the final sections, leads through smaller towns and open landscapes.

Ferragudo itself is not a through route. As you approach the village, traffic slows down noticeably. This contributes to a calm arrival but requires attention and patience, especially during the high season.

Limited space

Ferragudo is a historically grown village with limited parking capacity. In quieter months, finding a space is usually uncomplicated.

High season

During the summer months, parking can become more challenging, particularly for longer stays with a permanently parked vehicle.

Arriving in Ferragudo

The final part of the journey leads through the village centre. Narrow streets, low buildings and short distances define this section. The surroundings feel established and clearly structured.

Arrival is usually calm. There are no large access roads or complex traffic situations. Many guests experience this moment as a conscious transition from travelling to arriving.
