Overview of the beaches

Around Ferragudo there are several beaches with very different characters. They are shaped by the natural coastline of the Algarve, with its rocks, cliffs and open Atlantic sections. None of these beaches is artificially created or part of a resort concept.

The Atlantic Ocean strongly influences water, light and rhythm. The sea can be powerful, especially during the winter months, and remains refreshing even in summer. Tides visibly change the beaches and are a natural part of coastal life around Ferragudo.

Praia da Angrinha

Closest to the village and often referred to as the river beach. Located directly by the harbour and easily reached on foot from the Chickenhouse by walking through the village. Small and calm, suited for short visits and quiet moments by the water.

Praia Grande

The largest beach near Ferragudo. Open towards the Atlantic and conveying a strong sense of space. Even during busier periods, activity is well distributed due to its size. Slightly longer walk than Praia da Angrinha.

Praia do Molhe

Located near the mouth of the river and strongly influenced by tides. Its character changes with water levels and currents. Feels natural and at times almost secluded.

Praia do Pintadinho

Framed by rocks and slightly outside the village centre. Sheltered and clearly structured. Often chosen for longer beach days.

Praia dos Caneiros

Situated at the edge of Ferragudo and widely open towards the coastline. Marked by cliffs and Atlantic views. Easily accessible, though not directly within walking distance of the village centre.

Ferragudo’s Natural Coast

The beaches in and around Ferragudo are natural, varied and closely connected to the village itself. They are well suited for guests who wish to experience the sea as part of the landscape, with all its changes, strength and calm.

They do not offer uniform comfort, but diversity, openness and an authentic coastal reality.

Use, water and rhythm

The beaches around Ferragudo are shared by locals and visitors alike. Mornings are often quiet and spacious, while activity increases gradually during the day, especially in summer.

Water sports are possible in the region due to the open Atlantic conditions. At the same time, it is important to be aware of the power of the sea. The Atlantic changes with weather, seasons and tides.

Sunsets shape the evenings along many sections of the coast. Light and horizon create a natural and unforced atmosphere.

Sea, grottos and coastline

The coastline around Ferragudo is characterised by rocks, cliffs and natural formations. These structures continue below the water and form the typical grottos of the Algarve.

Boat tours depart directly from Ferragudo and offer a different perspective of the landscape, seen from the water along cliffs and caves formed over thousands of years.
